This notice explains what personal information Ermelo Ilanda Cabs ("Ilanda") collects through this website, why, and how it's handled, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who this covers

This notice applies to passengers requesting or reserving rides, drivers signing up to list their cab, and anyone submitting feedback through this site.

What we collect, and why

If you request or reserve a ride as a passenger:

• Your name and phone number — used only to notify the driver you're matched with, and to send you trip updates (like ETA and arrival). Your phone number is never shown directly to the driver — it's used by our system to send notifications on your behalf.
• Pickup point, destination, and passenger count — used to match you with a suitable driver and car.
• Any notes you add to a request (e.g. accessibility needs) — shared with your matched driver only.

If you sign up as a driver:

• Name, phone number, home area, car details, and number plate — used to create and manage your account, and shown to passengers so they know who's arriving.
• A password — stored in encrypted (hashed) form; nobody at Ilanda, including admins, can see your actual password.
• Proof-of-payment images you upload — used solely to verify your joining fee or trip fee payments, reviewed by the admin.
• Optional car photos — shown publicly on your driver listing if you choose to upload them.

If you submit a complaint or suggestion:

• Your message, and your name/phone number if you choose to provide them — you may submit feedback anonymously. This goes only to the Ilanda admin, never to individual drivers.

If you raise an SOS alert:

• Your driver, car, and trip details at the time — sent immediately to the Ilanda admin so they can contact emergency services on your behalf with accurate information.

Who your information is shared with

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or third-party marketers. Information is only shared internally, on a need-to-know basis:

• A driver you request sees your name, pickup/destination, and passenger count — not your phone number.
• The Ilanda admin can see full account and trip details, for approving drivers, reviewing payments, and handling safety issues.
• We do not currently use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services on this site.

How long we keep it

We keep account and trip records for as long as your account is active, or as needed to resolve any disputes, payments, or safety matters. If a driver account is removed, related trip history is retained for record-keeping, but is no longer linked to an active, publicly visible profile.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, request that it be corrected if inaccurate, and request its deletion where we're not legally required to keep it. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

Security

Passwords are never stored in plain text. Access to admin and driver accounts is protected by login limits that block repeated password-guessing attempts. Payment proof and car photo uploads are restricted to image files and are not directly executable.

Cookies

This site uses only essential session cookies to keep you logged in as a driver or admin. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
